(Whiten your Teeth)

(Whiten your Teeth)Look at all those actors, models, or your favorite style icons, you will find one thing in common. No not their lovely faces, their shining sets of sparkling white teeth. Teeth are that part of your face which you never take seriously until they become a matter of concern for your looks. Yellow or discolored teeth can leave you uncomfortable when it comes to smiling, laughing or even talking to someone you care to impress, be it your crush or your boss. On the other hand, a shining set of white teeth can make anyone appear more attractive, healthy and can boost confidence.

Why do teeth get yellow? Well there are several factors that play a part, including genetics, poor dental hygiene, or bad eating habits. A tooth is made up of 4 tissues. The enamel and dentin is what plays the role in determining color of tooth. Some foods and drinks directly stain the enamel, which is the white covering that protects the tooth; while some others break it down revealing dentin underneath, which is a hard yellow material that carries nerves. So in order to have your shining set of white teeth, you not only need to remove the stain but also requires strengthening enamel to keep it from breaking down revealing yellow dentin. There so many professional methods to whiten teeth but they can be costly, painful and will leave your teeth sensitive for a while. So here I have some natural methods combined with a little touch of chemistry elements which is proven to whiten teeth at home.

1. Baking Soda and Lemon. Baking soda (officially known as sodium bicarbonate) is one of the best and most used ingredients to remove stains from teeth, while lemon is known to have bleaching properties. Mix a few teaspoons of baking soda with enough diluted lemon juice (add a little water to the freshly prepared lemon juice) to make a paste. Rinse your mouth with plain water. Put a small amount of prepared baking soda paste onto your toothbrush and apply onto your teeth. Leave the paste for about a minute and then rinse.

Baking soda is mildly abrasive so it gently scrubs away surface stains but over using it can very well scrub off the enamel right off your teeth and enamel doesn’t grow back. So be careful that you have enough juice mixed to have a runnier paste, not a gritty stiff one.

2. Coconut Oil Pulling. You might have heard it for the first time that coconut oil can be used for teeth whitening and it sounds absolutely crazy as well but rinsing your mouth with coconut oil is a unique, ages old remedy to whiten teeth. Coconut oil contains lauric acid which kills bacteria present in plaque that make them yellow.

Simply put a spoonful of coconut oil in your mouth. Swish, push and pull it between your teeth for 5 to 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can add a few drops to your toothbrush and simply brush it on. Spit it out, rinse with water and brush your teeth with your regular toothpaste. Also, coconut oil has antimicrobial properties so it is good to promote gum health, and help keep your breath fresh.

 3. Lemon or Orange Peels. Cleaning your teeth with fresh lemon or orange peel on a regular basis will reduce the yellow tinge accumulated on your teeth. These food products contain vitamin C and calcium which combat microorganisms in your mouth and will taste good as well.

(orange and lemon peel)Just rub the peel over your teeth any time in the day regularly for a few weeks and you will notice effective results. The acid content in orange and lemon might eventually wear away the enamel on the teeth. So always rinse afterwards to be on the safer side. This easy and tasty method can be very effective if used consistently.

 4. Apple Cider Vinegar. Apples are known to whiten teeth when eaten raw so it makes sense that apple cider vinegar would eventually work as a gum cleaner and remove stains on the teeth. It has also been proven that it works as a natural teeth whitener. Some also say that using apple cider vinegar on your teeth looks like it has been cleaned professionally but for that result, you have to be consistent as it takes about a month of continuous usage to see the results.

(Apple Cider)Just put a few drops on your toothbrush and brush your teeth with it. After that you need to brush your teeth again with your regular toothbrush, or just rinse your mouth out really well.

These remedies will definitely show great results if you are consistent with them. It won’t be as instant as professional whitening treatments but the results will look natural and healthier unlike bleached the life out look. By going natural, you also save money and feel better about yourself, after all health is what creates real beauty.
