Are you combating dry unmanageable frizzy hair? Do you want to get rid of that bush over your head and have soft, silky and bouncy hair? Who doesn’t? Frizzy hair can be a daily battle for some or an occasional mess for others. In either case, it is frustrating to deal with it as frizzy hair not only look dull but can be very difficult to style, but worry no more as we have got these cool tips and hacks to defrizz your hair real quick.

Frizz is mainly caused by lack of moisture in your hair. Other causes can be extreme humidity, regular use of heating tools such as blow dryers, flat iron, and certain chemicals in your hair products or simply using the wrong products for your hair type. The hair is built of three layers and thousands of cells, outermost layer being called the cuticle. When hair doesn’t receive enough moisture, the cuticle opens up and lets the outside air in causing a frizzy mess which causes the hair look lifeless. In simple words, we only need to moisturize our hair in order to settle up the cuticle layer to have a smooth and frizz free hair. So let’s begin with our top picked techniques.

1. Coconut or Olive oil. Remember when your grand grand mother used to oil your hair to nourish it, she was right.

Coconut and olive oilOil is considered the most important element for frizzy hair that needs extra moisture. When it comes to oiling, coconut oil and olive oil can do miracles to your hair as they are extraordinarily hydrating. Just take a few drops of your desired or available oil, rub it between your palms and gently massage into your hair. Try to reach every portion of your hair from roots to tips. Do not apply too much oil to avoid making your hair greasy.

2. Hair Serum. Oils do wonders to frizzy hair but it can cause a little stickiness as well. If you want to substitute oil with some more benefits and with no stickiness, a hair serum can make you pinch yourself with the results.

Livon Hair SerumIt was early 2000’s when serums came into existence in Indian households. Hair serums are great to combat frizzy dry hair and are easy to apply as well. It looks like viscous oil and the application is just the same as that of our traditional hair oils but the benefits are more than the latter. I would personally suggest you to try Livon Silky Potion as it is cheap and it does what it says. I have been using it for a while and quite impressed with the results but you can go with any silicon based hair serum of your choice.

3. Egg Mask. Eggs have always been my favorite when it comes to beauty tips. Egg yolks are rich in fats and proteins and are naturally moisturizing.

To make the mask, you will need two raw eggs (or as much suitable for your hair length), a freshly cut lemon and your frizzy hair. Break the eggs in a bowl and separate the yolks from egg whites. Whisk the yolks till it becomes a smooth paste. Now squeeze half a lemon onto the yolks and beat it well. Lemon is good to keep that annoying egg smell away from your scalp. Now apply this paste to your hair just like a hair dye. Keep it for half an hour and then wash it off with cold water (use hot water instead if you wish to make omelet on your head) followed by shampooing and conditioning. Use this hair mask once a week or two to have smooth silky hair.

4. Hot Oil Therapy. I don’t need to mention again the benefits of applying oil on dry frizzy hair but you can use the most of it by using this technique. Simply applying a little amount of oil is enough to moisturize the hair but if you want to take it to another level, hot oil therapy is all you need.

It penetrates deep into the hair shaft increasing the elasticity to a whole new level and gives you soft shiny easy to manage hair. They are simple to do at home. Take a little more amount of oil (coconut or olive) as we took in the first hack, warm it in a bowl and simply apply it to your hair (make sure the oil is warm not hot). Let it stay for a few hours or you can leave it overnight and then wash your hair with shampoo followed by conditioner. An alternative method is to simply apply the oil to your hair, cover it with a shower cap or plastic wrap, and apply heat by sitting in the sun, using a hot towel or using a blow dryer. After heating the oil, allow it to cool to room temperature, and then wash it. Hot oil treatments can be done one to three times per month depending upon need. Overuse can cause your hair to look greasy.

Try one of the above methods or combine them to have smooth, shiny and bouncy hairs.
