We live in an equal world but not everyone is equal in terms of genetics. Everybody has different facial features, different thumb impression and just the same way everybody has a different body type.
You may have noticed that guy who joined the gym just a couple of months before but has gained more muscle mass than you can possibly imagine or the guy who has never even seen a gym in his life but has a better physique than you.
Well life is unfair and I didn’t set the rule, but having a better knowledge of your body type will surely give you fair results for your hard work and you can better tailor your diet and exercise routine and set realistic, attainable goals that pave the way to your success.
Human body types are genetically pre-set into one of three camps: the ectomorph, distinguished by lack of fat or muscle tissue; the mesomorph, marked by a well-developed musculature; and the endomorph, characterized by a preponderance of body fat.
The Ectomorph Body Type
The ectomorphs have a skinny appearance with a narrow body frame with low body fat and muscle tissues. They tend to have very high metabolisms and can eat whatever they want without getting fat. They have a hard time gaining weight especially muscle mass.
Brad Pitt, Shah Rukh Khan, and Bruce Lee are great examples of ectomorphic body types.
The Endomorph Body Type
The endomorph body type is exactly opposite to an ectomorph body type. They seem to have a bulky appearance with a larger body frame with heavier fat accumulation and little muscle definition. They tend to have a slow metabolism and find it hard to lose weight.
John Goodman, Govinda, and Oprah Winfrey are good examples of this body type.
The Mesomorph Body Type
The mesomorph body type is in between the ectomorph and the endomorph body types and display qualities for both. They have a large body frame as the endomorph does with a low body fat percentage as the ectomorph has. They seem to put on muscle mass easily while also maintaining a very lean physique. The mesomorph body type is considered the ideal body type.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Hrithik Roshan, and Sylvester Stallone are great examples of mesomorphic body types.
Body Type Combinations
Although there are three clear body types but these are not set in stone. It is probably possible that you are a combination of two body types as it’s rare to be one of the pure breeds.
Such as in a mixture of mesomorph and endomorph, one can easily gain muscle mass but can also increase body fat percentage if relax the diet.
If you are not one of those fortunate mesomorph beings then probably you are one of many who is looking to make a transformation from one body type to another.
Well, although we can’t alter our genes but it is entirely possible to get lean or pack on considerable muscle mass. I am not saying the journey will be easy, it will be tough but you can achieve your goals only if you follow a nutrition plan and workout routine according to your body type.
Doing long cardio sessions will never help you gain weight if you are an ectomorph and on the other hand, eating in the caloric surplus will never make you lose weight if you have an endomorphic body. More than this, stop comparing your progress with others as everybody has a different body combination and if you are not lucky with your genetics then it will only lead to demotivation.
